Elderly Man Robbed, Suspect Apprehended

Gulfport, FL- Friday night Gulfport Police Officers responded to the 6000 block of  Gulfport Boulvard South where an elderly male was robbed and tied up.  Officers reported that the suspect who is known to the victim followed the victim into his residence where the suspect tied the elderly male up with duct tape.  The suspect took the victim's wallet and car keys, then fled in the victim's 2013 Chevrolet Camaro. After several hours, the victim was able to chew through the duct tape and reach a phone to call 911.  The victim was not injured. The car which is equipped with On-Star was able to be located. The suspect identified as Nathan Rewerts, 24 of Gulfport was apprehended by the Florida Highway Patrol and Pasco County Sheriff's office near the Flying J truck stop on Interstate 275 and State Road 52 in Pasco County.   The suspect was transported to the Pasco County Jail awaiting extradition back to Pinellas County.
