Strong Arm Robbery after ATM Withdrawal

On 12/12/12 at approximately 10:25 am, a 70 year old white female, who will not be identified at this time, was robbed of her $20 ATM transaction at the Wells Fargo bank in the 2000 block of 49th St S in Gulfport, Fl.  An unidentified black male suspect described as 5’11”-6’00” tall, slim build, small gray afro style hair, missing some teeth and wearing a blue t-shirt and blue jeans was on the curb watching the ATM transaction.  The 70 year old female approached her vehicle and the unidentified suspect grabbed her hand and pried the cash from it telling her “I need that money”.  She began to yell for help.

Meanwhile, a 29 year old black male, who will not be identified at this time, was passing the bank on his scooter and heard the cries for help.  He began chasing the suspect and got into a struggle in the 4900 block of 20th Ave S where he was subsequently bitten on his forearm by the suspect.  According to the Good Samaritan, threats to cut him where made by the suspect as well.  The Good Samaritan pushed the suspect away and the suspect fled eastbound into St Petersburg.

The suspect’s name is still unknown; however, investigative efforts are being made to identify him.  If anyone has any information regarding this incident, please contact Det. Embry at 893-1043.  Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
