Youth Resources
Because we understand the importance of maintaining positive police/youth relationships, the Gulfport Police Department employs an officer who works full time in this area.  The Youth Resource Officer works alongside three other detectives, but with the following primary responsibilities:

§       Investigate cases involving missing or runaway children

§       Assist in the investigation of criminal cases which primarily involve youth offenders

§       Counsel parents and their children to resolve problems which lead to frequent use            of police resources

§       Mentor youth in local schools

§       Advise the Gulfport Teen Council on relevant matters

§       Serve as Chief Advisor for the Gulfport Police Explorer Post

School Resource Officer

Each high school and middle school in Pinellas County is staffed full-time by at least one resource officer who is specially trained to work in the school environment.  Officer Steven Beltran is assigned to Boca Ciega High School, and his primary mission is to increase the safety of the students during school functions.  Additionally, he supports the youth resource function by enhancing the positive relationship between youth and law enforcement.
