Subject:               Gulfport Police Chief Retires

Date:                    12/06/24

Narrative
Gulfport, FL—

Today, the Gulfport Police bid a fond farewell to Chief Robert Vincent.  Chief Vincent retires today after nearly 31 years of dedicated service to the residents, businesses and visitors of Gulfport.  Chief Vincent started his career in May of 1994.  He rose through the ranks and was appointed police chief in 2010.  Chief Vincent employed community and problem oriented policing as the backbone for his policing strategy for the Gulfport Police Department.  Chief Vincent led the agency during some of the lowest instance of reported crime in his 31 year career and he led the agency while it earned four Excelsior awards for excellence in law enforcement accreditation.  Although his leadership and dedication will be missed, his officers and staff wish him all the best in his new adventure.

Chief Vincent has named Commander Joshua Stone to serve as the acting chief of police until a permanent replacement is selected.
