2024 Gulfport Police Department Citizens’ Academy
The annual Citizens’ Police Academy, organized by the Gulfport Police Department, commences on January 18th and concludes with a graduation ceremony on Saturday, March 30, coinciding with Fun in the Sun Day and a cookout.
These weekly classes occur every Thursday evening from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Participants have the unique chance to gain insights and first-hand experiences into the daily activities of Gulfport police officers and department staff as they deliver police services to the community. The curriculum incorporates a blend of hands-on field trips and traditional classroom sessions. Classroom instruction and field demonstrations will show the various aspects of law enforcement, including:

BUILDING SEARCHES
TOUR OF THE PINELLAS COUNTY JAIL
TOUR OF THE PINELLAS COUNTY EMERGENCY OPERATIONS CENTER AND 911 DISPATCH CENTER
ON-SITE PRESENTATIONS FROM THE PINELLAS COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE FORENSICS SERVICES CENTER
K-9 DEMONSTRATION
Applicants must be over the age of 16 and pass a background investigation. Please apply early as there are only limited spots available and they fill up quickly.
