2022 Gulfport Police Department Citizens’ Academy
The Gulfport Police Department is hosting its annual Citizens’ Police Academy from July 11th through August 29th, with a graduation ceremony to be held on September 16th. Classes are held once a week in the evening from 6pm to 9pm. Participants are offered the opportunity to learn and witness firsthand what Gulfport police officers do as they provide police services to the citizens of Gulfport. Classroom instruction and field demonstrations will show the various aspects of law enforcement, to include:

EMERGENCY VEHICLE OPERATIONS
FIREARMS SAFETY AND FAMILIARIZATION
TRAFFIC STOPS
BUILDING SEARCHES
TOUR OF THE PINELLAS COUNTY JAIL
TOUR OF THE PINELLAS COUNTY EMERGENCY OPERATIONS
CENTER AND 911 DISPATCH CENTER
ON-SITE PRESENTATIONS FROM THE PINELLAS COUNTY SHERIFF’S
OFFICE FORENSICS SERVICES CENTER
K-9 DEMONSTRATION
Applicants must be over the age of 16 and pass a background investigation. Please apply early as there are only 10 spots available and they fill up quickly. Preference given to Gulfport residents.
