Subject: Arrest of Adrian Morales-Garcia for Attempted Murder

Narrative
Gulfport, FL—On July 26th, 2023 at 3:05 PM, Gulfport police arrested Adrian Morales-Garcia on a charge of attempted murder stemming from an incident that occurred on March 18th, 2023 at 4918 Gulfport Blvd. At approximately 4:00 AM on that day, the victim was walking in the parking lot of the Gulfport Liquor store when a vehicle drove by slowly. The victim approached the vehicle, and the driver opened the window and shot the victim as he stood next to the car. The victim, who was shot through the arm, was able to run away as the shooter drove away from the scene.
Detective Sergeant Thomas Woodman led the investigation and was able to identify the vehicle that the shooter was driving, ultimately leading to the identity of the driver. This led to a search warrant for Morales-Garcia’s cell phone location history which, along with surveillance data, placed him at the scene of the crime. Combined with the previously-obtained information, Sergeant Woodman issued probable cause for the arrest of Morales-Garcia on July 21st, 2023.
Officers conducting surveillance of suspected locations observed Morales-Garcia on 7/26 at a residence in the 4600 block of 25th Avenue South. A coordinated response by patrol officers, command staff, and detectives resulted in the apprehension of the suspect just as he got into a vehicle that was parked in the street in front of the house. A firearm was recovered from the vehicle where the suspect had been sitting.
Morales-Garcia is currently being held in the Pinellas County Jail with no bond pending charges of attempted murder and being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
